Personal Support Worker
This program emphasizes the integration of theoretical knowledge with practical skills to prepare students to work collaboratively within healthcare teams, engaging with clients, families, nurses, physicians, and support services. Professional practice placements in healthcare agencies, overseen by instructors and preceptors, provide hands-on experience and exposure to a diverse range of clients. Students will develop a keen awareness of relevant legislation, including the Human Rights Code, Child and Family Services Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workers’ Compensation Act, and the Long Term Care Homes Amendment Act. Additionally, the Living Classroom at the Tansley Woods or Wentworth Heights campuses serves as a unique and authentic environment for applying theoretical learning in real-world scenarios, enhancing the practical skills necessary for success in the field.
