This program offers a distinctive interprofessional education course specifically designed to enhance collaboration skills within the healthcare team, providing students with a unique advantage in the field. With 42 hours of hands-on experience in Niagara College’s cutting-edge lab facilities and an additional 266 hours of clinical placement in both long-term care and community settings, students gain practical exposure crucial for their professional development. Graduates of this program receive two additional certificates: one in Managing Food Safety, offering a specialized culinary curriculum focused on food preparation, and another in Gentle Persuasive Approach, focusing on caring for individuals with dementia and other cognitive diseases. Moreover, Niagara College graduates from this program or students in their final level have the opportunity to seamlessly transition into term two of NC’s Practical Nursing diploma program, exclusively available to domestic students. This pathway provides a streamlined progression for those looking to further advance their education in practical nursing.
