Kristine Joy Tirona is a Filipino student who is making waves in the field of mechanical engineering. She is currently a doctoral student at the University of British Columbia, where she is researching renewable energy and sustainable materials.
Tirona was born and raised in the Philippines. She developed an interest in engineering at a young age, and she was inspired by her father, who is also an engineer. She attended the University of the Philippines Diliman, where she graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering.
After graduating, Tirona worked as a research assistant at the University of the Philippines. She then moved to Canada to pursue her doctoral studies at the University of British Columbia.

In addition to her academic achievements, Tirona is also active in the Filipino community in Canada. She is a member of the Filipino Engineers’ Association of British Columbia and the Filipino Canadian Youth Alliance. She is also a volunteer at the Filipino Community Centre.
