Food and Beverage Management

This course provides an introduction to the food and beverage industry from the perspective of an event planner. Students will understand how a food service business is structured, and how to successfully manage the food and beverage aspect of an event.

General knowledge about wine, beer, spirits and other beverages including coffee and tea that are fundamental to a successful event will be covered. Students will also gain an understanding of the fundamentals of basic restaurant operations and organizational roles.

A focus will be placed upon service styles and etiquette, which will enable them to develop interpersonal skills to interact with guests. The student will learn about pairing beverages to aid them in creating a warm and hospitable environment for guests.
